I want to paint the various leather straps on my T-34 but I'm not sure how to go about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated

paint the straps a chocolate brown, use a darker brown to hit the edges and in the creases. Then do a light drybrush with a warm orange bro colour

Hi Ralph,
I usually use two methods to simulate leather. One is very simple and I use it for equipment straps and such, kind of what you are looking for. I first paint it using Vallejo Leather followed by a Brown Ink wash. Highlights are done with lighter shades of the original leather color.
The second method is similar to the one Fletcher described. Check out my thread on the Stalingrad Russian Soldier, I did his belt like that.
