Can anybody recommend a method and/or adhesive for affixing PE parts which will work better than CA? I'm refering particularly to parts which "stand up" such as grab handles which have a tiny articulating surface.
I'm having problems with some grab handles etc. which keep breaking off because they haven't got much to hold on to

I assume you mean attaching PE to plastic? 2 part epoxy is stronger than CA (CA has very little shear strength) but takes longer to dry.

Yes, I did mean PE to plastic. Thanks a lot Fletcher, I'll get some epoxy at the hardware store. I've noticed the lack of shear strength in CA first hand as I kept knocking them off the kit.

I use 2 part epoxy glue most of time and while it gives you longer working time and better shear strength, it is not as thin as CA. It's ok for most PE though.
I will usually not use PE grab handles as they are flat in profile and have very tiny attachment points. You are better off to replace them with wire. Leave it longer than you need and drill the appropriate sized hole on the armor. Then fit the grab handle into the pre-drilled hole and apply the glue on the inside of the armor. ;)

Ralph,
I found this a while back. Go to Ausfwerks website, Techniques, scroll to bottom, and you will find: Applying PE with Apoxi Sculpt. Problem for me is a i can not find it here:( . Although i did find a epoxy by "Loctight", it is a solid putty product and once you kneed it sets in 5 min. Advantages of epoxy should be a stronger bond, and you can work a weld seam with the epoxy.
See: PA's techniques on weld seams.

Hi Mark,
Apoxie Sculpt is what I now use (I used epoxy cement before). Apoxie Sculpt can be bought online from several vendors, do a search. Why not buy from Ausfwerks directly?

Yes Mark,
Ausfwerks sells Apoxie sculpt in the 1/4 lb size, which is plenty.
Also, drill holes to insert the wire, like Lawrence says, they will never come off.

OH, and one more tip for pe, If you never want the pieces to come apart, or off the model, whether you are attaching them to pe itself or the kit plastic or whatever, JB WELD is the secret. A two part epoxie that takes over night to harden, but once cured has a hold like you won't believe.
