Hello Cristiane,

The effect looks to me like a very soft drybrushing. You can get that effect by many succesive soft coats instead of one heavy one.

I think it's the sponge tehnic. It is the same as drybrushing but instead of the paint brush you use a piece of sponge.

Hi,
could be sponge to my eyes. Important thing to add after sponging, scratches etc are many coats of filters to blend them "in".

Hi Cristiane you may want to try using some Vaseline as a resist to get something like this. It will give you a worn paint effect without the hard edges like you get when you use rubber latex stippled in place as is the usual way. Also you may wish to combine some salt technique with the Vaseline resist. There is a good article for example in the recent (No.13) issue of Model Military International. I would suggest practising some on something that is dispensable before committing on a good piece. BTW- what is the source of your photograph?

Hi, lots of speculation...hum.....if it was my guess, I think that the primary weathering, especially around the edge is chalk and/or pencil graphite rubbed on with the finger or brush. A little drybrushing also, maybe both with base medium (enamels or acrylics) and with oils - the oils would explain some of the softness that Dave mentions.

Who's build is it, it is very nice?
