Making a US desert training vehicle using the Tasca kit and Tamiya's turret. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s198/panamadan00/tascasherman069.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s198/panamadan00/tascasherman068.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s198/panamadan00/7ADM4A4.jpg

Kewl stuff! :thumb: Any reason you didn't use the kit tracks? I've had a chance to play with them and they seemed really nice.

The kits tracks are for British vehicles only. Dan

Very nice :thumb: I don't know much about Shermans but does this version have the thickened turret cheek?

I have a set of the RHPS tracks as well and I find the end connectors to very loose. Did you have the same problem?

Lawrence, No this early type of Sherman would not have thickened check armor-that would come later in it's life. This version is a very early Sherman. Try slightly pinching the track pins with a blunt tweezer to "fatten" them, this will allow them to fit tightly with the end connectors. Dan

Great tip about the RHPS tracks, Dan!! The T62 tracks weren't "British only" but were just a circumstance of the M4A4s being built at the Detroit Tank Arsenal. In the picture you posted, while three of the tanks have T48 tracks, the second one has the T62s. HTH

Roy, I've looked at that photo only about 1,00 times and never noticed that! Does that mean I should just chuck my RHPS tracks?! Dan

Absolutely Dan. You're committing a Sherman Cardinal sin. Now you've got to wait however. I'm going to send you a personalized "RHPS" recycling envelope. The fact that it's pre-stamped and addressed to me is just a coincidence -- just ignore that. Just chuck those unwanted tracks right into it, drop them in the nearest mail box, and you'll receive absolution for your grave sin!

LOL

Thnx Dan. That's actually one of the fifty T26E4 production chasses. They were all cancelled before war's end. (I built my model as the pilot that made it over to Europe and slugged away at the Germans for a month or so -- read John Irvin's "Another River, Another Town" about his time as the Super Pershing gunner. Better yet, come to the AMPS show in Indiana April 08 to hear him -- he's one of our honored guest speakers)

Roy, Indiana isn't too far from MN-maybe I'll make it out there. I took the photo of this beast at the 1st Inf. Museum outside of Chicago. Dan
