I thought that you might be interested in this little tip that a guy showed me to make your own needle files.
1.Take one cocktail stick and flatten off one side on a piece of sandpaper.
2.Take a small piece of wet and dry paper of the grade you want to use and spread some CA glue to the rear of it.
3. Press the flat part of the cocktail stick to the CA glue (remembering of course not to glue your fingers !).
4. With sharp knife or scalpel cut round the stick and trim off any surplus.
The result is a thin file in whatever grade you want, cheap, made in seconds, and disposable.
The guy who showed me this had spent some time developing the technique and made variations such as 3 sided files with the stick sanded to the appropriate shape first.
And in true Blue Peter style (need to be a Brit to get that one :) ) here is one I made earlier.
