While I'm trying to recover from the insane amount of chicken wings that I ate a little ago with my friends (I got my ass handed to be too by the way :o ), I'm trying to play this new game I got; Red Orchestra. It seems pretty cool. It's like MOH or call of duty, but it's just on the Eastern Front. However, I'm bored out of my mind because I just installed it and I have to wait over an hour just to play for some dumb reason (it's updating something and high speed is not fast enough :( ). So I wanna know, is there anyway to avoid this??? I dunno what to do as I've never had to deal with that crap. In the mean time, I'll continue to...

:yell: :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell:

and maybe eat some chocolate truffles that I got from the neighbor (anything to get rid of that suicide sauce that's still in my mouth!!!!!!! )

It has to download all the content to your PC via Steam it's a great game I don't have it but I did play it while it was a free mod for UT 2003 it's not easy mind you the iron sights take time to get used to !

Sounds like an interesting game RC, can you drive tanks in this one?

yeah, after looking more into it, the updates sound good. It's just giving me cooler stuff and working out the bugs, apparently. The last update was last October, but it includes the pz IV H...kinda would have thought that a long barreled pz IV would be a given in the game, but I guess not (same with the MP41! I can't believe that was an update that they had to do :p )

You should be able to Laz :thumb: At least from what I saw on the box; which is one of the reasons why i got it (I'm not sure all that you drive. For sure a t-34, maybe a JS-2, and various German tanks I imagine)

I saw this at the store the other day. Sounds pretty cool! Can you play as the Germans against the Russians?

Very cool ... Game.. yes, you can drive Tanks!.. you also have Gunner and Driver positions.. you can take one by yourself (have to switch positions though, but even more fun to team up with someone!)... Graphics changing to the different positions is cool too!! i.e.. sitting in the seat.. move your face closer to the periscope.. popping the hatch to stick you head out (but be careful with the last one if there's infantry about!).

Infantry is very cool.. Weapons are fun!.. No cross hairs though.. so when you 'shoot from the hip'.. your guesstimating (just like in real life).. you can always switch to iron sights though!

It's very cheap too I got mine for 20 bucks!..

Valve(Steam) periodically runs a 'weekend' trial where you can play it for free for two days..

This game is really cool. I seems like it'd be more fun in multiplayer mode though. It doesn't seem to have levels, at least in the traditional sense.

It's sweet because there are pz IVs, panthers, and Tigers that you can drive. The soviets do have the t-34 (naturally) and the JS-2. It takes some time to get used to (I know I'll need more time lol), but I recommend it after playing it for just a little while very, very, very early today.

You gotta get it Laz! (you two too Evan and Gordy! I'm surprised that we haven't had multiplayer games between members yet...at least, IDK if we have had any yet lol)

Also, as an aside, battlefield 2142 seems like it'd be interesting too; at least after seeing it on T-L (they'll have games there between members/visitors, I reckon)

I kind of miss gaming, but I doubt that thing will run on my laptop. Or look halfway decent. And dialup internet aint the best for MP games. Speaking of gaming, I won a free Xbox at work, but it doesn't work. And Microsoft wants $80 to fix it. Not cool.

That sucks. I hate Microsoft. (watch, IE 7 will crash now that I typed that.) :D

Shoot my computer won't even load IE7, it quits half way through install.....now I just read where the great new windows vista won't let Symantec or MacAfee into it's kernel, so there goes any sort of quality defense....... I'll be sticking to XP till all the experts figure it all out.

So, right now I'm researching parts and am going to build my first pc....the new graphics cards and chipsets are insane.....:D

I'll try to keep you abreast.... oh, and RC, I like the sound of Red Orchestra....

Oh, I hate the sound of Vista. There was an article in PC magazine about it. Sounds like it is going to be awful-no XP programs suported.

Don't hold me to that, but that's how it sounded to me. And the best news is, they are disabling all support of XP a couple of years after it hits the market, so us holdouts can't update virus scaners, McAffe, etc.

Here's a good discussion of some of the problems:

RO is a great game, haven't played myself but my friend used the free trial version and it was supposed to be very cool. It will probably not work on my old computer.:( Even Call of Duty 2 will not.

Vista has its problems, like powerpoint not working, but don't be too harsh on it, it will get better with time.

Larry, you are going to build your own computer, wow! I guess all that Panther Aber gets the skill level up.

BTW I am still using IE 6.0. I have mozilla installed but only use it to look at my school's website and nothing more.:p

There's a button next to the F12 button called "Print Scrn". Press it and then open the application you want to paste it in and press "Ctrl" + "V" for Paste.

Here are come caps from the German perspective...

These were all taken from the Arad map...
Most of the vehicles have the option of having multiple players working together (IE a driver, gunner/commander/loader and/or an MG). Most people don't much tend to dig that, but some do. The game has a voice chat feature as well.

Nice pics RC.

I just got the game today and installed it. The tanks are a blast to drive. It took forever to load in my pc. and I am short on virtual memory. but it is fun. the only thing I really don't like is there doesn't seem to be a single player mode. If the practice round is AI it resembles newbie's real well. Especially thier driving ability. :D

I'd rather drive the tanks myself. and man all the stations.

The lack of a single player mode is a downer, but it's not that bad; it's more interesting and realistic that way :D

Ok,

Here's my latest kills from the high ground. I guess I have to use the F9 button for the screen shots tho as the print screen button doesn't show all the detail.

Hey RC,

Yeah, that would be a blast! :D That is taken from the Ogledow map on the high ground which is one of the three objectives to hold, so as to win. It's hard though with lame AI. :yell: I need to take some better screen shots.

Would it not be great to know what all who play RO have for nicknames in game.
My self I tend to hang around on a server and the team is called FK I think.
My nick well I have used Wittman since -97 I think. But have added TT after as I want to show that I am a Team Tanker and can ride with other people.

Anyone still playing Red Orchestra? I strongly suggest you to add Darkest Hour mod...Plenty of Shermans and HT to blow or instead storming German Guns at Omaha (I hate these MG42)
You can also play British paras or defend Pegasus Bridge. a must have, and free!!!
