Well, this one is easy to answer.
I have recently been having a 'love-affair' with the Sherman, and have embarked on a real quest to learn as much as I can, as fast as I can (to make up for lost time ;) ). And Dave's recent dispersal of the 'Asian Flu' (PTO Shermies) is the icing on the cake.

So, oddly enough ( ;) ), my answer is Shermans.

(but I do have an 'itch' for British tanks as well)

Jeeez, what is it with the fascination with German indecision?? (this should elicite some response's Dave!..... ;) ) I mean, why are people impressed by the idealogical principle of " If I don't get it right the first time I'll keep making, and changing the bloody things until I get it right" plan of action!?!...........

Let's recap.................nahhhhhhhhhh.

Now don't get all 'Primeval' on me......I'm just tryin' to get you guys wound up! is all.... ;)

HUMMMMM.......Just about anything that you can classify as an AFV will do for me..
I do go through cycles though...right now i'm on a modern armor kick in the last 6-8 months i've built all O.I.F. stuff....2 humvees, 3 Abrams,1 bradley,1 LAV-25 and lots of figures.i'll start a chally 2 when it arrives in the next day or two.and more of the same in the works...oh i did build a few others, a tiger 1 and a pershing and also an F-18 .....if pressed for an answer i'd say allied armor, shermans all its variants..including M-10's........
I must get back to building i have a consignment job to finish for thursday!
nothing like gettin' paid for what you like to do!!!!!!!!

Hello, My favorite Armor subject has to be the Sherman Tank! Being the son of a Sherman Tank Crewman sealed it for Me! I have learned more about the Sherman from My Dad's first hand experience with the Sherman then I have in some books. I am glade I have this honor learning about a part of My Dad's life with the Sherman Tank. Thank You, Neil Osborn Red Bluff, California U.S.A.

There are many things that draw different people into liking a particular tank or Nationality of AFV. There is of course the visual design of the vehicle, the quality of the engineering, the actual amount of success of the vehicle during its lifetime, the historical significance of said vehicle and its physical apperance in its enviroment. And last but not least, its achievments and impact on the men who served or crewed it.

When you add all of those things up there are only really two WWII tanks that proved themselves worthy of any model at all. They would have to be the Sherman and the T-34.

Now if you break those criteria down into individual catagories you could definately find other WWII tanks that were prettier in visual design, or had more success at one place at one time thats for sure.

I really like the visual design of the Tiger 1, and I have always had (and still do) have a warm spot for the Stug III series. I really prefer to see knocked out tanks and will model a whole series of them in the future. There is something visually enticing about seeing a precision piece of machinery forcibly modified. Like a beautiful piece of sculpture.

My father served in USMC Shermans during the New Britian campaign in WWII. As was stated above, I too learned a lot about the Sherman (M4A1) from my father and found it facsinating. As I researched the USMC use of the Sherman in WWII and read detailed accounts of their use and talked to the veterans that served in them throughout WWII, I was eager to model these tanks.

I still have a real attraction to the whole LVT family of vehicles, Japanese WWII AFV's and the Australian use of the Matilda II in the Far East. Lately OIF tanks are of interest to me also.

Just my opinions........David

I can't go so far as to break it down to individual vehicles. Too many cool ones!

But my main areas of interest:

Late war German armor
Modern Soviet vehicles

Hello,

as a newcomer to this site, I'll read through these messages so my replies may come a bit later;)
Here are my votes for this poll:
1. Panthers
2. T-34's
3. all the rest:D

I switch quite easily from subject to another but main problem is that never seem to finish anything:/

Cheers,
Niko

Evening Gents,

I like early war German armor. In particular the Pz111 and assualt guns on the Pz111 chassis. After that, it's any thing with armor, tracks/wheels and guns.
