Everyone,,unless I missed something it would appear that the only thing
that Tamiya did for the new A6 was add the longer barrel and nothing else
Can anyone tell me whats up with that??

Yes for their 1/16 and 1/35 Leopard 2A6 they put the longer barrel.
Note that there are such Leopard 2A6s in German and Dutch service but they have different armoured side skirts towards the rear.
Tamiya configuration only existed on prototypes or for a short period of time.
I think the older style rear side skirts were reinstated because the newer ones got easily damaged and are a bit too expensive to replace.
If you want a different A6 wit for Revell and Italeri who will release the same kit in 1/35 under different boxings : Leopard 2A6EX.
