Hi Larry
The first pic looks like its somewhere in Gaza and the second one could be from the 1982 Operation peace for Galili, perhaps a bit later.

Hi Rob,

Good to see you on the site. Thanks for the info. I can barely tell one Merk from another. They are very cool looking though.

hey rc , i didn't know that you liked the idf afv's

it's a cool armour group

on the first pics you can see an merkava III baz (my favorite tank ^^)
and on the second , it's a merkava I in lebanon (exactly afv rob )

Ohhh yeah. I think it's hard for anyone to not like them. They're awesome! I've been collecting reference material for a while though. I wanna hold off the kits for a while. Although, all those Legend sets are real tempting. Going over to IDF-armour-groups and seeing all the Merks under construction makes them all the more tempting :lol:

I really want to get an IDF Centurion (like that Legend 1982 version)...I hope AFV club releases an IDF version (or it'd be cool if Bronco would get theirs out lol)

Edit

This Merk 2 D is awesome...it's crazy because it seems to futuristic though :lol:

I found this recently...A build Merk 2 D (http://idfmodelling.free.fr/kit_merkava2_05.html)
I think that what appeals to me the most is that (if I may be frank and i hope you and others get what I mean) Israeli armour is kinda like modern German WWII in a way...I mean, they have sooooo many variants of Merkava as well as their other AFVs that they are all so awesome! I like the futuristic look of these and the fact that they are modern, but they are different (most all modern/present-day MBTs all kinda look the same, except for these) and all those little details appeal to me...like the bolts and all of that good stuff :)

Yes those sites are cool and so are the Merkavas. But RC, enough drooling over IDF pictures and get back to building those Pz IVs! :lol: ;) :lol:

I know...but I can still drool all I want damit! lol :lol: (at least those Legend sets cost a lot...that's prevented me from wanting to buy one)

I'm up to my ears in Pz IVs though...I'm somewhat burnt out...I can't help it...when my sig said I was OD-ing on Pz IVs and IIIs, I wasn't joking...

-Pz IVs that I have (just to give an idea)-
B----->4 (all C-H;1 ootb, and built, I just need to paint it)
C----->1 (tristar)
D----->4 (DMl and Tri)
E----->3 (all DML)
F----->2 (both DML/Gunze)

-Pz IIIs-
E-M/N....about 6 or 7...I lost count...most are partially built...

Quite a Pz problem...is there like an AA type of meeting for modellers? like MA or something...

"Hi, my name is RC Hill and I'm a model-olic"
"Hi RC!"
"I'm proud to report that I haven't bought a single model kit in over one month-ish" lol

RC,

Wow, 21, here we have a man who really loves his PzIII/IVs. ;)

''Hi, my name is Siim and today I stood in front of the models at my local hobby shop with money in my hand for over a half hour. I managed to come away with the money.''
applause

Ohh and about the topic.
I saw a plastic kit of a Merkava in my LHS last year, that was when I knew nothing of those tanks. It was cheap and I now wish I had bought it.

Blackjack! :lol:

I honestly never noticed how many I had until...well, I'm not sure when, but somewhat recently....

I'll look at Merkava oriented items on eBay and you can sometimes get the Tamiya kit pretty cheap (about $10US)...I hold off though...even though for some reason, I convinced myself a while ago that I had to get the Tamya Chally 2 desert version...hmmm...would have been better off with a Merkava! lol

This is a cool dio...
