O.K. I am unpacked enough to where I feel ready to start something new. I was full of it and thought I would start a model back around the 4th of July, but more "move" related stuff found it's way into my lap instead.

I have had this kit for a few months or so.

I ordered these and they came in back in January...

I am still deciding whether or not to go the Atak zimmerit route or risk f-ing this model up real good by trying it myself with some Apoxie-sculpt. :(

Here's the new work space - still no room to call my own, but this is a huge difference - it is like night & day compared to where I used to pretend to build models.

this was taken before we closed and moved in - same kitchen - just a little disheveled at the moment though

stay tuned!

According to the review here on PMMS (http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/afvclub/afv35093.htm) they should work. I will either go the ATAK resin zimmerit route or try using epoxy putty again (previous attempts have been futile).

Hi,
I have those same tracks and they fit nicely either Tamiya or DML sprocket. I was going to use them for Tamiya Late but sold it away so for DML they will go :) And I'm having same thoughts about zimmerit, whether do it self or use Atak....

The ATAK sets are really good for Zimmerit. I'd say, try making an old kit look good with home made zimmerit on. When this works well, get to work with the DML kit. If it's failure, oh well, it's an odl kit anyway, and you still have the ATAK set. JM2C, MartinD

I've seen the Atak sets and seen reveiws i think that would be the way to go i personally don't have experience with the Atak sets so i would look forward to some feedback if you choose that option.

Very cool Niko, thanks! They do look like they will be fun and those ejector pin marks should not be too hard to deal with. :) It looks more and more like I will have to brave the storm and do my own zimmerit - it seems the ATAK set I need is backordered + 4 weeks everywhere I go. :(

Hi,

I wanted to know what vehicle from what unit are you going to do?

Can't wait for the building pictures. ;)

I can't wait either, Siim. I ordered a LionMarc replacement barrel today for the hull mg34. As for unit markings, etc. - I have not decided yet. I have an old warriors resin crew for the Tiger that are in WSS 1-piece coveralls I believe - so if I use them - this will be a WSS Tiger. We'll see.

O.K. I have run into my 1st problem - the rear idlers cement them in the up position? down? somewhere in between? :(

Don't cement till you get the tracks built .

Cooler heads prevail. Thank you, Doug. :)

Niko,

Did you finish your build using those AFV Club tracks - I am under the impression that the Tiger 1 has 96 links per side - did that work for yours?

Hi Alex,
no I have not finished with tracks as I haven't started with Tiger itself yet
I'm also unsure about zimmerit. I will try to use some putty to work with. Not yet sure which brand to use, perhaps Milliput....

Alex, have you checked with Models by Mickster for the Atak set? According to the site, it's in stock. Last time I ordered zim from him, the set was not in stock, but it only took about a week to get it in.

Evan,

Yes I tried him. He was out and it was going to be + 4 weeks before more came in. Looks like I will be using putty and a little luck.
