Hi all,

Started this kit last week and this will be build during my breaks at work. It's the dragon kit with eduard PE. The dragon kit is very nice and i was a bit surprised to see the amount of detail in this scale. But i don't think i should have bought the eduard PE. It has detail wich is to big for the dragon kit.

I changed the settings of the wheels so they are turned left

One of the things i think is great in the dragon kit are the wheels. They count five peaces and put together you have one part. This makes painting much easyer.

The front part of the fenders will be made out of sheet copper and will receive some damage. the one on the picture is a bit to small so i have to build a new one. maby i will built this whole part out of sheet copper.

The radio.

The driver's compartment. I was a bit enthousiastic in cutting down one of the handles.
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g27/Ricardo_77/251/251e.jpg

The benches for the infantry. Becaude i don't have any reference on the 251 i don't no if some parts are correctly build. But hey, this is just a model for fun

The dashboard. I'm quite pleased with the PE detail on this part. But does anyone know wath the PE part on the far right is? According to thye eduard instructions this part should be turned one quarter to the right, but then it doesn't fit. Now it fit's and you can't see it anymore when the top is in place. Then it is covered by the radio :(

Andthis is how it looks when the parts are in place.

Comments are welcome.

Richard

Today i decided to add a tarp on top of the 251. That's because i started to get angry with the eduard PE. And before putting this rather fun little kit away i had to made a tarp for it. It's not yet finished, and i think the hole on the right side will become damage. I think that gives i nice touch to the whole vehicle.

Richard

Thanks for the comments guys.

Today i took the airbrush and started a bit of painting. First the pre-shading

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g27/Ricardo_77/251/251u.jpg

Then a painted the whole vehicle tamiya red-brown(lightend a bit with buff)

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g27/Ricardo_77/251/251v.jpg

Now i'm making masks for the camopattern. First i will tape off the red brown camo areas. then the vehicle will be painted green. Then i will tape off the green campspots and the vehicle is painted dark yellow. in this way i hope to recieve a nice camopattern.

Today i painted the green and the darkyellow bits of the camo. Both were lightened a bit with buff.

And this is the result with the tape removed. I'm quite satisfied with this.

Thanks guys.

To refrase a line from Mr. Worf...Today is a good day to paint

I made the masks....
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g27/Ricardo_77/251/251ad.jpg

...and picked up the airbrush again. I think the result is quite nice. There are a few spots of overspray, but for the first time using this method i'm quite satisfied.

There are a few spots wich need to receive some camo spots....

Hi all,

Today the temperature dropt about 10 degrees celcius so i got the chance to use the airbrush. finished the camospots(had to do a few) and also painted the tarp. The last one was done with dark grey and this was lightened a couple of times with light grey. I don't think you can see it good on the pictures.

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g27/Ricardo_77/251/e.jpg
And a few pictures as the vehicle is at the moment. Now that there's paint on the tarp you can see that it's not really nice build. But this was the first time i build a tarp and i will leave this on the vehicle so next time i can see how to do it not!

Not the best job on a tarp ever. But it looks good enough, and it gave you some experience. So well done mate!!!

Hi, I believe the PE 'thing' now buried behind your radio (&under tarp) held
spare vision blocks (ie armoured glass) to put into visors if the ones in place got shattered (ie bullets, fragments etc). Yes ,they should be rotated thru 90 degrees. Sorry, ive only just joined (& you posted over a year ago!) so that is why this answer is so late & you probably already know the answer!!
Cheers teags
