Hi all,

Although I like the WWII era, this was my first attempt at a diorama. These are US Marines advancing behind cover of an M48A3 tank on the Citadel in Hue City during the 1968 Tet Offensive. All the the figures, except one were altered to look like Vietnam era Marines. Like I said this was my first attempt at a diorama, altering figures, airbrushing, weathering and camo painting. I've got too much white light above but I hope you like it and all comments are welcome and appreciated.

I particularly like the 'animation' of the figures :) What figures did you use as the base for this? I'd like to hear some more details of this one...Nice!...Jim

Hey everyone,

Jim and Gordy, thanks for the kind comments. :) Jim the figures I used were from 2 Tamiya's WWII US Army Assault Infantry sets and Dragon's US 1st Cavalry set. The Tamiya figures had long sleeve field jackets that had to be filed down thin enough to make them look like short sleeve Vietnam style BDU's. The helmets were painted in that era's camo scheme with the black rubber around the helmets to hold LSA rifle oil and First Aid bandages. The legs of the Tamiya figures also had to be filed down to make the spats that they wore look like 'Nam style jungle boots. The brick wall is also from Tamiya as well as the M48 tank, the accessories are from Tamiya and Academy. Gordy the inspiration for this dio was from a pic from a book called the US Marine Corps Story.
