All-
I had not seen much discussion on the OIF armor and wanted to see if I could get something going.
While recently deployed to Iraq I witnessed American ingeniuty in action.
I often roamed the parking lot of the DFAC prior to eating looking for new configurations of not only our vehicles, but those of our allies. I noticed the addition of armor plating on many of our transport vehicles along with our HUMVEEs. As many have read, the Up-Armored HUMVEEs had not reached Iraq in force so we had Iraqi businesses build armor plating for these vehicles.
I also witnessed the additions of guns in the back of 2.5 ton trucks. The most amzing thing I saw was a dump truck bucket mounted on the rear of 2.5 ton truck and a 50 cal mounted inside the bucket.
