Hello everybody,

My first posting, found this site through Missing Links; the great Pzkpfw IVE shown on Constructive Comments had a link on the complete build on this site.

My question: Are Tamiya's XF-63 Panzergray and XF-59's Desert Yellow the right colors for a DAK vehicle in PG overpainted with DY or need I to mix colors? If so, please what recipe?

Tamiya's acrylics are easiest to come by AND I prefer to work with them!!

Thanks for your troubles!
Best regards,

Erik.

I don't see why not ;)

You're probably going to weather the vehicle anyway, so getting the base colors exact is important, but it's just not totally important....I think it depends on the finish that you want to get with your model...as long as the tan/desert yellow/dark yellow doesn't look real orange-ish, you should be good to go....

Oh, and there is always the possibility of using "Nato black" as the base "...I've seen that done a decent amount on various models and it's supposed to like bring out the dark grey a bit more...at least with the tamiya dark grey as their dark grey is a tad bit too light, but in the desert, I'm sure that was faded a bit (at least with the Panzers that got there and that were still initially grey) and like I said, as long as it's close because with the weathering, it's all gravy
