I have no idea exactly what model Sherman this is, but it was given to an asylum in the northern US after WWII, sans gun, for use as a bulldozer.

Eventually it broke and was buried on the site. 16 years later the current owner dug it up after he was tipped to the location. Price, $10.

I was told by the owner that all the parts (other than fender replacements) are original, and what's more is you can actually still read the name Carmen on the side.

BTW--a gun was recently purchased and this ones restoration process is scheduled to start soon.

Hope somebody likes these and can identify the type? I totally forgot to ask...

Cheers,
Christopher

yep thats an M4A3E8 alright, that variant was used from late 1944 onwards
it would have been armed with a 76mm gun.

I thought that the dozer might be some sort of modified blade used on the Patton series but after checking the Hunnicutt book it's the T7 dozer with blade widths from 124-146" and was standardized as "bulldozer, tank mounting M2" and was developed in 1945
