Hi all,

Since I always see everyone on at the same time, and just waiting I thought I'd say Hello.

Went to the LHS today, they were fully stocked except for what I wanted. :(
Not even a late Tiger I! So I scoured the books section(behind the closely guarded counter) and came away with Jentz's Panzer tracts 4 on the Panzer IV. And Concords' Panzer divison in Russia, which has some pretty good pics. Also got the Friul panther sprockets.

What'd yall do today?

Larry

Gday Larry!

Aber - go with Air Connection - excellent service, and they carry everything.

My little heartbreak for the day - my Nikon D70 died. It suffered from whats known as BGLOD - Blinking Green Led of Death. Its long out of warranty, but Im lead to believe that the local distributor will fix it even outside warranty - aparently its a common problem with early build D70's.

Im particularly heartbroken as I like to photo document everything I build, and Im not going to be able to now for some period of time, so no updates to any of my vBench projects for a while.

On the upside, I started another new model today - a Tamiya T72. Doing an Iraqi bent but now broken one. Lots of mods, ill post pics up if/when I can. Im reduced to photographing my models with the camera on my phone!

Meh...I shot skeet today (with one of my 12 gague shotguns, and I got to shoot an M-16 today, which was totally awesome)...I did some soldering this morning, though nothing spectacular (just some fenders...I'm not going to post until I get some things totally done (that contest at T-L adds a little incentive for me to get some things done and entered), and I need to get a research paper off my back too :( )

That is interesting to me that a hobby shop is open on a Sunday...That just seems weird...I can never ever see that happening here in Arizona....

And Airconnection is good, eh....IDK...I almost always just go with R&J products...they always have everything i want, and it's a few bucks cheaper per item than other sites (at least from what I've found)....

Oh Thanks RC,
I did need some stuff from RJ's. Here in California EVERYTHING is open on Sunday, except the post office.

Yeah,
I like shooting too. My nephew has quite the collection of WWII guns that we shoot when at their place in Idaho. It's great fun. I don't know how those guys hauled those heavy guns all over Europe and Russia, and everywhere else, they're damn heavy.

Yeah, when ya pick up just about any weapon from back then, it's hard to believe how far some of them guys carried them....It amazes me how light weapons are getting to day....can I ask, what kinds of weapons does your newphew have? Rifles, pistols, or submachine guns?

Well, lets see all rifles.

German, a mauser or two, Russian, couple of Mosin nagaunt, and a more modern one a can't remember the name some assault rifle with grenade launch on the front. English rifle, and an Garand! that s just what I can think of off the top of my head.

sounds like me 15 years ago...... I had about 15 rifles nearly all ww2. Government toughened up the laws and I sold them all. :(

Larry Bates

Ian,
Yeah, they keep trying to do that here but the gun lobby is way too strong. Although California libs do they're best, some can't be in the state. Like, they say they have a ban on assault rifles, gut it's such a small technicality thing that all you gotta do is remove a part and your legal.

I ate some spicy stuff (stuff because I know it's food, but I can't even pronounce the names of the food lol), but I must confess, I really didn't eat the "nuclear" stuff...I probably would have died...though it might have kept me warm a bit because I did drive home with the top down on my car lol

Good times....It was fun though because my friend, Gibran, was in heaven with all that spicy food! All he was missing was the chile seed candy that he loves so much!

what's going on everyone?
Build anything new? (any new figs? (Gordy))
Done anything new and exciting?

"I'm drinking wine (not really) and eating cheese (more like strawberrys), and catching some rays, you know. " lol

Today was ok, but stunk a little because I kept getting misdirected about which title company I was supposed to go to in order to open escrow on a deal because I needed the receipt before 5 or I'd was gonna be in trouble...our usual title company moved (I still can't believe they said nothing)...oh well...it all worked out ok :)

(pardon that my banter isn't really model related...just wanted to strike up a conversation is all  )

The show I'm working on, "Supernatural" is going to wrap in a couple of weeks so I am anticipating a few days off to organize before my trip abroad. Thing is the bathroom in the apartment I am living in may have to be re-done while I'm gone... and the building manager was in my place today while I was at work. I hate that kinda crap. Anyways- I may just move everything into storage and then find a new place when I come home. I'm about to eat my supper which consists of some bacon and eggs with tator tots.

Tomorrow after work me and the little woman are going to meet a friend at Morton's for happy hour. The only way I can afford to get any of their delicious steaks.

 Mmmmmm, steak. We were going to get a Fleming's 3 blocks away from our house. Man, talk about heaven. If the town I live in hadn't pissed them off I would have made a point to be there at least once a week smoking a huge cigar at the bar and gorging myself in a rude fashion. Well I just finished watching the DVD of the film "Capote". It was pretty good. I'm wrapped out of Supernatural now so this week will be spent organizing for my trip which starts next Monday. I'm not really able to enjoy my time off yet , because of several reasons I am putting everything into storage and moving out of my apartment at the same time. I swore I'd never come back from Europe or travelling in general again without having a place to live when I come back-but life always finds a way to throw me a few curve balls. :(
So that's what I'm doing boxing and cleaning. All the models are in cardboard boxes now- I may leave all my reference books till the very end, they are all I live for. ;)

As for me, I've been trying to learn how to play guitar, I scored an excellent deal from a couple of friends and got a Fender telecaster and an awesome amp for about $325.00 US for both! Yeah Larry, I had to work :( Then I had to go clothes shopping...I hate clothes shopping  ...mainly because I like to dress pretty conservatively and everything kind of starts to look the same after a while and besides the fact that I'm not really into looking like someone who is 'technically mentally retarded' lol... I'm not into the whole 'woren' look that most clothes tend to be for people my age...Give me a nice Express Mens botton-up shirt or something like that anyday!

And a guitar Larry? WTH!? Go work on your Panther DAMIT! lol

You know, I actually got my Tankwork Shop replacement parts today in the mail...well, yesterday I'm sure because I didn't check the mail til today...real cool stuff...The new owner guy also sent me some newer, more up-to-date instuructions for my Tiger I interior...way better than the older one that left me guessing lol

Today was so-so...chores and all that, which isn't a huge deal, but I told my mom I would go with her to some meetings to talk to builders about our new house and I regret that...they were all soooooooo boring and every house we saw was Santa Fe style...excuse me, "Territorial" (such political correctness! lol)...I know one could easily change the look of the house, but really, they all don't have to look like a stupid pueblo! lol

I don't get it either! lol...it can be generic to when a place/state was a territory...I mean, they sure as heck wont build a a pueblo looking house in Washington...I mean seriously, a territorial house there would look all rustic... Like a log cabin kind of deal...and the MidWest would probably have sod houses lol

Here's a 'territorial' house for the Southwest lol

Builders are boring, but not too boring overall...I mean, if I had to go to sleep, and I had a choice between listening to a builder talk and Al Franken to put me to sleep, I'd choose Al Franken

Hey RC,

Well, I'm sending mine back. It is probably corrupted. :(

I was also informed that Panzer Wrecks 2 won't be shipping to the US until the first week in May now. :(

RC, I can't listen to that crap anymore, it just makes me upset.

I received that email as well, I have waited 1 year for it so one more month won't hurt. :) Speaking of Ipods, my wife keeps nagging me to go down that path ...towards the darkside, she has 2 now. I think she would die if either of them were to crap out on her, I just can't do it though, I have a hard time justifying the purchase of electronics as it is since they constantly evolve and usually render all preceding formats useless and so on. Just wait until someone figures out how to make mp3's obsolete, then what?!?!?

Alex....I got 1 word...MP4! lol

Man, it's all about planned obsolence....cars, appliances, Ipods, clothes....models

I can't get into iPod crap...I guess it's because I have my music that I listen to, but really, I only listen to music when I drive, or even then, I'm more of a talk radio kind of guy ;)

Larry,

That sucks...I mean, seriously, that sucks balls...(for both the iPod and Panzer Wrecks)

I don't blame you for not listening....I listen because at least Rush gives ya a good laugh...I know that he's biased, just like Al Franken is, but that's why they get the big bucks to do that lol...I try to get both sides, but it's hard...I mean, Air America left Phoenix because of low audiences here and well, Franken(stein) puts me to sleep...on TV, he's not that bad, but otherwise, he's a walking snooze fest lol

The ONLY reason I broke down and got an iPod was so I could listen to music at work. I'm in a small room with 3 other guys, and we're all artists and have different tastes in music, and also, my computer is not next to me so I can't just plug in head phone to listen to music. So, I'll just have to deal with it.

RC, when I first discovered Rush I listened to him religiously. But after Bush took office, well it just wasn't that much fun anymore.

Ok, well, that makes so much more sense Larry...I don't have the opportunity to listen to music at work, so to me, it's like why the heck even bother

And I can't believe you don't think it's still fun...To me it is, and the 20 million other souls that listen every week... though, at you pointed out with your artist buddies, we all have our own tastes in what we like to hear lol...if Gore had became the President, would you still listen? lol

I'm just getting too old to care, as long as they're not spending my money for some stupid program, like ipods for crackheads so they can assimilate their sorry asses back into a life so they can work at seven eleven and sell drugs out of there, well, then I'm happy :o

On the bright side, I just had a great dinner with the little woman at a place called McCormick and Schmicks. Kind of a Chicago style seafood restaraunt, all wood and high ceilings. Un huh.

I went to a terrible place the otherday...'Michael's' in Cave Creek...some hoity toity place...my food was so cold and for everyone I was with too! For what I had to pay, it was rediculous....They ruined lamb for me too...at least for the time being

I know it's totally far off, but summer plans anyone? (I dunno how that works south of the equator...it's winter time there right?)

I tried to lay mine out today with some friends and family...

-I really want to go to the Dragon Expo in Anaheim, California with my friends Wade and Gibran (good timing before Gibs goes to Pakistan to visit is family) as I've never been to one of those conventions...

-I have to go to Costa Rica...again...on business and to see the family...

-Europe? Dunno where I can fit that....I'd go to Spain and Portugal though...

-ROAD TRIP! Dunno where I can go that's NOT Cal-iforrrrr-nia or Mexico...Canada?

-Ft Lee/APG? (perhaps this could be part of the road trip lol)

Busy looking summer all around....

The other night, before I went out w/ my GF and my friends, I went to the craft store and picked up a few things...just some 'basic' supplies...I got a much larger cutting/working surface deal for my desk and I got a newer, much larger case to store all of my supplies...some big, sturdy black carrier, like a tackle box (I like to keep my stuff mobile  )....I feel more complete with those two items for some reason....It feels good...I took some time yesterday (sunday for me) to work at my desk and for the first time, in a very very long time, I enjoyed it...I did some soldering and a bunch of other stuff and it was just fun for me...(that ended when I had to start my H/w)

I also got a soldering iron for my buddy Gibran while I was there at the craft store too, but I lost the stupid thing! lol I checked my car, my room and everything and I can't find it...I swear I saw it when I put the bags in my car, but IDK.... :( It's like the carpet monster in my car (if that's where I lost it lol) is worse than the one at my house

I had nothing to do, so I spent the night working on my Steyr 1500 that I started over a year ago. I've got it almost finished, just needs doors, tools, wind shield, spare wheel, and dashboard. Such a great kit, it just falls together. A few knock outs to fill, but nothing to bad.

Here's where I am at on various projects...

Stug III G Early-needs a few tools, tracks, and tow cables

Tiger I Initial- needs tracks, idlers, tools, and Bosche lights.

Marder III- needs the MP 40 for the fighting compartment, a few tiny details, and a coat of primer. And tracks too...

Those are the ones closest to completion, the next few are either in progress, stalled, or have been shelved.

Sdkfz 250 Neu- little more than halfway done. I need to finish off the interior with some Aber before gluing the sides on. Kind of burned out on it.

Sdkfz 251/22 Pakwagen- I need to finish off the gun and it's mount with some scratch, solder the gunshield, detail the interior a bit, add wheels and tracks. Burned out right now with half tracks :(

Wespe- I got bored and shelved it. Didn't like the Eduard PE either, will go with Aber in the future.

Nashorn- kind of too burned out on it to start it again. Missing pieces, etc...

Panther Ausf A- burned out on that too. I didn't like my crappy zim job with Squadron green stuff, and I just don't feel like spending money on the Aber set I want for it. Shelved, might get pitched

Since I have four kits almost completed, at least construction wise, I think it's time to buy a new one! The list of things I am considering-
Dragon Tiger I late production
new Dragon 234 Pakwagen
Tamiya Stug III G, kitbash with Dragon parts for a late production one.
Dragon Hornisse, might go all out with Lion Roar, Tristar suspension, metal barrel and see if I can't make a nice Nashorn or Hornisse out of it.
But no more half tracks! I have too many 250s and 251s as it is.

Hey guys,
I got a new job today, damn McDonald's but it's better than nothing. As for modelling, I haven't done much lately. School, work, apartment search, all that. I've got a paper due on Friday about North Korea building nukes, so I need to bust some ass on that.

Larry, the Panther's in a box at my parents' house now. I'll come back to it one of these days. As for painting, I'm taking the APG approach...give it a coat of ugly primer and let it sit forever! Actually, I need an airbrush, but I just don't have extra cash right now. Figure I can at least build them while I try to make some money.

RC, the Nashorn's missing a few of the details for the hull, and part of the hinge for the driver's hatch. I'd have to look at kit to see what's there and what's not. Looking back on what I did then I really don't like it, several parts on the gun are crooked or misaligned. That's why I'm thinking about getting a new one.

Niko, that 234 does look sweet! I'm very tempted to get my hands on one.

I would just like to state for the record that Vallejo Model Color is really nice paint for hand brushing, and that Vallejo Model Air is the WORST paint for airbrushing - what crap - thinned the stuff with their thinner, added their retarder and the stuff still clogs my Iwata in less than 30 secs, while I can work with thinned Tamiya paints for an hour and never have an issue!

There I feel better.

Heck Evan ,

have you noticed how crappy looking most of the zimm jobs are on tanks? Yours is an Ausf. A isn't it? ;)

John,
:) Thanks for that review! I have toyed with the idea of changing over to Vallejo paints so I wouldn't have to use the future coats to seal with then flatten with. How about spraying the Model color does that work?

Eager to know. ;)

Hi,
I'm also having big troubles when airbrushing Vallejo paints. And they work nicely when hand brushed.
I have given up using them with airbrush as thiining those with Vallejo's own thinner doesn't help much. And paints come off so easily :(
I paint more with Tamiya(my stock is drying up as those are not available in Finland anymore), Humbrol, Model Master...

I have a bunch of regular Vallejo Model Color and I've never really gotten around to using them, though, I think I just might in the near future...if they're good for hand brushing, then why not use them to paint some figs that I've had sitting around for a while  (that's what jaume ortiz uses)

Well, I put in 8 1/2 hours at work tonight, then came home to work on packing and moving furniture so I can move out of the dorm next week. I realized something- I would have so much less crap if not for modelling. Kits, books, detail sets, PE, evergreen plastic, tools, notecards on projects, pictures printed off the computer, figures, the list goes on and on. Boxes and boxes full of the stuff. On the plus side, I did reclaim some parts from the carpet monster. ;)

Well... it turns out that I am going to move also. This time last week it I was not - now I am. After a little over 2 years my wife and I have found a place to move into that we hope we will stay in for the rest of our lives. Without going into all the personal details, we basically have been living in a home that was more or less a stepping stone to something better and permanent. My model area has been a closet. So the good news for us is we have found "our home" the bad news for me is this house, although bigger and nicer, has absolutely nowhere for me to model. I can't say that I really care at this point though. There is always the kitchen table, but as far a a dedicated model room - nada - not happening. So I will be putting everything I can't sell off here in my office at work until I can find room for them in the new house (maybe).

Your english is very good Siim...

Actually too, with our grading system, in general, we use As and Bs and all that, but there is a grade point system as well...a 4 is an A, 3 is a B and so on...unless, in some schools, if you take like real advanced classes, then an is a 5 and a B is a 4 and then that's it...Cs are 2s after that for everything...

Yup Larry...no more...at least until I do my summer courses lol (actually it's just English 102 and I just have to turn in my Research paper that I did for 101...pretty easy lol)

Sorry Siim, Happy B-lated B-day. Sometimes I do this too early in the A.M. like 5:30 am, and well, you see the result.... :o

Thanks for the correction Lawrence.

Man, I thought going to bed at 3am is late (or you could say early).

Do you get up at 5:30am or just going to bed?

Hey thanks Larry.

Talking about going to bed, I got to bed 5:15 AM last night/morning.
I was working on a KV turret since 1:00. :o
I was about to smash the damn thing six times. Making the weald seams on the roof.
A word of caution to all attempting the stretched sprue method. IT DOES NOT WORK! (AT LEAST FOR ME.) Testors liquid glue totally failed to melt the sprue.

Ok enough of my ranting.

Hello Siim, and Lawrence,

Well, 5:30am is when I get up for work. I used to be a late owl when I was young like you guys. Now, I got to get my rest.

Simm.....the trick to the stretched sprue method for weld seams is to wait about 10 minutes for the liquid glue to soften the plastic.

Hi Larry

There is no way I can get up that early! 5:30am and on PlanetArmor, that's dedication! :)

Have you read this? I have made the tools and looking forward to try them on a few shermans I am building.

How to Create Accurate Weld Effects by Lee Llyod (http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=220)

Lawrence, yes i did look at that article. I will go the hobby shop on monday to get some two part putty what I can roll.

Larry, my whole enevour looked something like this:

Stretched some sprue, glued it into place. Applied Testors liquid glue. Waited for about 2-5 min. Tried forming it. Nope it was still too rigid. Ok applied some more glue and waited. About 15 min later it was still too rigid, but I forced it with a knife blade. Kind of managed to make it look good enough to pass of as a weld.
Maybe I was expecting the glue to soften it more.
Looking at the turret now, it looks quite nice actually.

On weekday mornings I am usually only able to wash myself and eat some sandwiches. Too sleepy for anything else. (Well there is also the factor of time. When one wakes up and sees that school starts in 30 min then there is only time for the previously mentioned things.)

Lawrence,
Yes I know Lee's method, and I use it. It can be time consuming, at times. Siim, as far as the stretched sprue method, maybe it was the plastic from the kit you were working with. the first few times I tried it I got different results. But, when I use plastic rod, it seems to work well after about 7-10 mins.

Hi,

The English exam is still coming. The written part will be on Wednesday and the verbal part on Thursday. Had consultation today but didn't go because it's pointless. All we do is fill previous years exams and I have done 2005 at least 3 times.

I'm at work and I'm going insane (in the brain!)!

Essentially, I'm the boss right now because the real boss is out of the country on business and my God, being the boss sucks...All I've been doing is paying bills, yelling at people and having to delegate people and transactions...I mean man, what the crap? All these people that I work around have always seemed smart enough...it seemed like they had both common knowledge and common sense when it comes to doing their jobs and dealing with any and all basic legal issues, but apparently not :(

Back to the grinder (and what sucks even more is that I have to be here for two extra hours   )

If you have ever heard the saying "that's why _____ makes the big bucks" now you know. Having been in a "management" type role on and off throughout the years, I can personally say it has it's drawbacks. Example: firing people - not an enjoyable experience - especially when the guy starts crying in your office and you have to follow him around and make sure he collects his stuff and leaves the premises. When you are the boss it sucks because you can't be everybody's "buddy" if you are nice then they think you are cool and you will understand... not. As you have found, staying late is another drawback. ;)

I'm not preaching - just saying I know what you are going through - just remember you will be "one of them" again soon - don't kill everyone

I'm not sure how I can put it, but it's about as fun as being forced to watch moss grow lol

Ya know, it could be worse...at least I understand what I'm doing and am well aquainted with all of my administrative tasks...I'm already familar with all the deals and what's going on...I think I just don't like how stupid (for lack of a better term) most everyone seems to be...mainly because of you know, little mickey mouse questions...but w/e I guess...the only thing that wll suck is if I fall behind on some of my work next week...I got jury duty on the 28th and those wankers have it so you call the day before to find out if you really have to show up and for sure, I have to...It'd suck if I got somethine like a murder trial because that would take a while :( (I doubt that I will, but you never know)...oh well, might as well get it over with

Now as I left my parents address with the school so any mail could be forwarded there, I wasn't too concerned. Then they ship it in June, for some reason don't get the forwarding address, and now UPS is sending it back to RZM :( .

What about that other StuG on your vBench? Or is it in the gar-bage?

I've been feeling that way with my StuG III D...can't make myself wanna work on it :-/ I really like it (the StuG D in general) and I wanna build it...I saw the StuG I want to build on Armorama in their DX06 images...I've contemplated though using the Tamiya StuG III B as a basis and then using perhaps my StuG III F that I've had laying around for a while? That SS Armor book is awesome, a little pricey, but worth it! Tons of great photos in there, including some nice shots of the Wiking Panthers. Plenty of Stugs, 251s, armored cars, KO T34s and captured Shermans as well. Even some great shots showing 88s in action!

Hi,

Thanks to you guys I don't feel like a nut any more. :) ;)

Evan, Are there any pictures of Wikings Panther 713 or 714 in there?

Siim, I just looked through it, and I don't see any shots of 713 or 714. However, there is a profile of 713 if that helps. It has white numbers, a dark yellow base, and stripes of brown and green camo. Looks like an early Ausf A.
There are plenty of pics of Panthers from the other companies though, including a two page spread of 521 that just says 'build me'!

Does it say somewhere that this tanks(713) name was ''Berti''?
A bit of a stupid question but I have the Dragon Panther A early and I am planning on doing that specific vehicle some day. Already gathering AM for it.

Hi,

This week here has been really warm. Over 30 degrees C in the day and 20 C in the night. This is REALLY warm for this place. At first it was nice but I am getting a bit tired of sweating all the time.
Haven't really been modelling anything. I have tried several times in the evening but ended up watching pictures and forums on the net.
Now when the football final is over I feel a bit sad. Really hoped France would win. (Zidane WTF was that? ) But a good championship from Italy too. Congratulations! ;)

So now I feel like modelling something but due to the temperature I am forced to do it with only my underpants on. No superglue this time.

Happy modelling.

It's either been not so hot here, or am getting used to the 110 degree weather (about 42 C)...it's kinda pleasant lol

Siim, I'm excited that Italy won! (apologies to the Frenchmen here)

Also, Siim that's more info than we needed

Just got back from the movies...I saw Superman! Great movie by the way.

I'm excited :( I just learned that because the boss turned in his real estate broker's license, as well as his real estate sales person license to eliminate any personal liabilities that he may face because of the business (almost sounds mafi-oso lol), I have to go to real estate school for the next two weeks starting this Monday to take the 'crash course' program to get my real estate license...doing that from 8 to 6 for the next two weeks will drive me nuts...not to mention having to sit through classes in which I have to learn stuff I already now because you have to 90 hours...I guess it could be worse, like actually getting there is going to suck...it's like an hour drive, to and from there, and that's not even when it's rush hour lol...
I get to register for my fall classes at ASU (Arizona State) on Saturday too...it's boring, at least that's what my friends have said, but I really want to know what classes I get to have!

Yuk School. But maybe a raise is in the future?

Oh yes school in the summer sucks. Try to put up with it.

As for going to school in autumn, I am going to a new school and I don't know anyone from there. So I am especially NOT looking foward going to school. Maybe it wouldn't be the smartest thing to tell everyone right away, that I like to put together plastic models. lol Some people have a wrong impression about our hobby and think it is childish. :-( It isn't.....right?...

Went to the beach today with my friend and I brought along a couple of StuG III books. They are in russian so I don't understand a word what is written in there but the pictures are drawings are nice. It was nice to lay in the sun, look at StuG pictures and go for a swim. (Without the book of course lol) And then I decided to persuade my friend to trade his DML Tiger I for something I have in the stash. He didn't want to......don't blame him.

Ok going back to filling pin marks on Tiger II tracks. Those damn things have 3 on each of them. I'm really thinking of going the modelkasten way but well the new Panthers are really cutting the amount of free money that is left.

Ok I will shut up now. lol

Damn, does that suck. Hopefully you'll still be getting paid, as it is work related. You going to be a new freshman at ASU? I remember the registration I had to go through at UW-P, pretty boring. We only spent an hour or two on classes, the rest was tours and playing those stupid getting to know people games with people you'll never see again. Oh well, now I can just do registration over the internet, alot easier. ;)

Siim, sounds like a good time. Stugs are awesome! I got a set of MK sprockets and final drives in the mail today, along with their Stug III detail set. Pretty cool stuff. Lots of tiny pieces though. I was kind of disappointed as I was expecting my copy of Achtung Panzer on the Stug to arrive with them, but RZM was out of stock and its on back order. Oh yeah, speaking of RZM, MK stuff is on sale this month, 20% off...

Well, I kinda doubt that I'll get a raise John lol (it'd be cool if i did though lol)...I already get paid my regular salary, which I think is kinda high for someone my age, plus bonuses/commissions...I will get paid half of what I normally get while attending the school because it's still for work, so it's not that bad...I'm really can't complain because it's still pretty good

Larry,
I work at a real estate investment firm...I only got the job because of my parents and what they do lol I can't properly say what I do because what I do is all over the place here (I'm the comptroller/office bureaucrat/dealmaker/office manager (this one is more in name and when the boss is out of town lol)), but essentially, we get houses in which we wholesale to other investors and we take a commission on it...flipping them is so much better than having to deal with actually maintaining the houses until you sell them yourself. Although, sometimes, we buy them ourselves, but only if we can make a killing and if we can sell them slightly below market price to Joe Schmoe, which of course makes them easier to sell lol...the market sucks now, but only because the boom has ended and things are returning to normal and pardon me if I'm being mean, but many of the amateurs out there think they can do it themselves and make a killing, and they could have during the boom, but not right now unfortunately :( ...the real players have backed the heck off because we don't want to die, financially.

And Evan, lol, I can't wait until I can register online lol...I rememeber doing that crap when I first started high school...it makes perfect sense that it's like high school all over again because I remember a teacher who was talking about what college was like and he said it's like high school, but with smoke-breaks lol

And Siim, I don't believe our hobby is childish...the only possible conflict that there maybe is that you, like most of us here, build WWII German...that's not cool for some people, like my half-brother for example...I dislike those kinds of attitudes because it comes from people that just don't get it! It's not my fault that I, like most of us, like WWII German AFVs...I can't help that they built the coolest and meanest looking stuff! An acquaintance told me in an email a while ago that it's hard to make something that looks like a jelly-bean (refering to the Sherman) look mean lol Don't get me wrong, some Shermans and other various Allied-oriented tanks, like the T-34 look cool, but I'd rather build a Panzer IV lol...Also, I mean heck, building models, in my opinion, is more respectable than collecting 'battle barbies'...I never had a problem with anyone knowing that I like to build models...most of the people that I went to school with here thought it was cool and they never hasseled my about it, but then again, I didn't always talk about it with so much else going on, except with some of my friends at school that like to build models too...Really Siim, when you make new friends are your school, if they really are your friends, they should not care what interests and hobbies you have...

Real estate prices are really growing here. Firms and banks are making a lot of money and I said banks, because people are loaning money to buy ever priceier homes. I heard on the radio yesterday, that every 7-th person in Estonia is in debt. The oldest being 96 and the youngest 3 years old!

As for our hobby, yes friends do understand it. Most of them model a bit themselves.

I have noticed a funny thing. Some people (and yes some of my friends, but not the ones that build models) assosiate german AFV building with me likeing the nazis and Hitler. IT IS NOT LIKE THAT. I like the vehicles and other equipment and also the fact that they fought against communism. I especially like divisons like Estnische Legion, ''Nederland'', ''Nordland'' and of course the finns. ;-) Communists did horrible things with my people back in those days so no wonder.
But enough about sad things, it occoured to me on the beach, thet my next Stug could very well be a finnish one. Maybe I will even go to Finland and touch and take pictures of the vehicle that I'm going to model. Now that would be nice. ;)

And with your edit there, are you refering to what's going on in Israel? j/w, even though I assume you mean the USSR (CCCP)

Actually what I meant with that was, that I pointed out some Waffen-SS divisions and so someone who might not know that much about them might think I am some kind of a SS (contsentration camps and massacres) lover or something. But in my mind, regular SS and Waffen-SS are different .

Yes I am also angry about the CCCP's crimes against humanity.

And I am against all that killing that is going one in the Israel region. Innocent civilians in their homes are not supposed to die, especially by artillery fire from a neighbouring country.
For Gods sake, they live on holy land!

Sorry to went out like this here but it feels good. :P

I passed the school portion of my RE exam (first time too, which is actually somewhat rare overall (less than 10% of the students in a class pass that schools tests the first time), but barely :-/)...I took it this morning and good grief was it hard! 200 questions from 18 very long chapters of state and national laws/regs/etc...only some freebies here and there (like the math and some other stuff)...what's crazy is that most all of that stuff will never be used by any realtors, but ya had to know it for the test (that's school in general for ya lol)...now to take the state exam! I really hope I can take it and pass before I go to Seattle next weekend...
