This is a pic of me with my Uncle at Aberdeen when I was quite young.
We visited him before his stint to Vietnam. I got to play on what ever I wanted IIRC.
Hope you enjoy. ;)

Very unique photo. I have nothing that cool in my collection. Your Uncle looks pretty old to be going to Vietnam. What did he do?

Hi James,
My Mom recently sent me this photo. He wasn't really that old, probably early 30's.
He was a career army guy, Staff Sargent I believe. As far as what he did, I don't really know, I'll have to ask him.

Gday Larry, thats a fantastic pic. I wonder how original that paint scheme is - the leaping tiger is still evident on the glacis. You didnt happen to take a paint chip did you? The Tunisian tiger colour debate could have been settled once and for all.
Got the chance to sit on a tiger myself in 2003, Wittman style..

Thankfully the picture of you humping the Tiger isn't showing up. I'm certain the kind people of this site dont need to see that! ;)
Willy.

Bad boy Sammy and the european adventures! Yeah a shocking one that  .
Larry,
did you ever wash the knee cap of those jeans again! :o
Now we know where it all started!
Actually if you didn't wash them we might be able to get a scan and extract some of the dust and paint enzyme from them and determine the true color under an electron microscope!
A great photo and I haven't got anything like that either in my old photo's, just smelly grandma's and such. Closest cat I've got on film has wiskers and a milk bowl!

You know the really amazing thing as you look back from now is that you were 'snapped' on the Tiger!
It could have been any one of a number of tanks , like a Shermy, especially when your a kid and there all the same. Unless you were a German armour freak even back then!

Ian,
I have vivid memories of climbing around inside them and sitting looking out like where the driver position would be. :)
I also remember my cousin taking us into the woods where they had war game stuff set up,(as in tanks in ditches, etc..) as well as tresspassing forbidden signs, or something to that effect. :)

God,
I envy your childhood. Sounds marvellous. No wonder you started building tanks!
I think mine came from watching 'Von Ryans Express" to many times and then running down to the local Sowing shop that also sold models. I had a fist full of dollars from odd jobs and I bought myself the 'brand new' 251 Hanomag [early] and only ever dreamed of getting the '88 and 8 ton semi - track kits.

Wow what a great pic. I'm gonna have to dig around I have a pic of that same Tiger with my brother and me infront of it in the Mid 70's. I beleive I may also have a piece of Zim from one of the tanks that I found lying on the ground - of course I would never peal it from one of the Tanks!

John,
Cool, start digging! That would be neat if anyone who had a pic with the same vehicle posted!
