I wonder if anyone knows if one were to visit this city in Germany , what would one find in regards to remnants of the main Panzer manufacturer. That is, Krupp. I really would like to go there on my upcoming journey and see what remains from W.W. II. Is there a museum with original archives. Photos. Perhaps some of the German members can fill me in on this? Vieler Dank.

G'day James.
Mate my brother-in-law lives there.....its an industrial city with some of the most ugly fifties architecture around. There's little in the way of what you or I would find interesting....and you'll find the standard German wont want to discuss the Welt Kreig anyhow. We spent a week there last year, its a good base to use to go other places, namely the Ardennes.
Willy.

Thanks Willy for the info. I did kind of think that there would be slim pickings from the Alten Tagen. It pretty much was described that way in end chapters of the bloody fantastically written book The Arms Of Krupp (http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0316529400/ref=sib_dp_pt/002-2013798-9812810#reader-link). Still I may swing by the town just for a look see.
Hi jamie,
found this..its and ad for a tour company
Krupp and the city of Essen
"Villa Hügel", where our city tour of Essen begins, was the source of a power that influenced and changed the city, and the whole region. This is the birthplace of a myth: bigger, faster, better than anything before. The route will present historical landmarks of Krupp and the city of Essen, which are titled to clearly demonstrate the development of the city under the big industry's increasing and decreasing influence. Even if "Krupp City" disappeared in the bomb shower of World War II, numerous souvenirs and reminders have remained - more than even insiders might think. Three different tours are awaiting you: "The South of Essen: Villa Hügel and the Krupp Family", "Krupp Within Essen's Townscape", and "The Former Krupp-City". Housing developments like "Margarethenhöhe" and the former "Eighth Mechanical Workshop", now home of the musical theater "Colosseum", are of course well-known. But there is even more! And suddenly you know what the "Three Rings" in the company's coat of arms stand for.
