Could someone possibly identify the truck in this photo for a future dio i would like to do. I think it is british. I was going to settle for a Chevy LRDG from Tamiya but would like to get as close to the photo as possible. The photo is from an Osprey title on 109 aces in North Africa and the Mediterranean. The caption under the photo says: 'This battered F-2 is being hitched to a light truck, probably for towing'.
It seems to be set in late 42 as far as its place in the book goes.
Also if you can identify the truck is there a model available?
thanks.

Hi Ian

I think it could be a Ford F60.

Thanks for the reply Luca, looks like you are spot on to me. Is it available as a 1/35 scale kit?

Hi Members.

Hilly, it might be a CMP 1.5 ton truck with some field mods. To me, the Ford F60 Luca kindly posted has too long a wheel base.

Your Truck appears to be a rather short affair.......but I'm far from clued into Allied softskins and there were many different field modified trucks in that theatre...

I hope this shot of a Brit CMP helps. :)

I think Lead Sled make one Hilly. You could try an eBay search?

Bill.

Hi Everybody

Ian If you want to reproduce the CMP 1.5 ton truck , Italeri makes a kit, if you want to reproduce the Ford F60 you have to scratch-build it ( I don't know any kit about it),some times ago I've started to do it , and I begin using the Quad gun Tractor by Tamya .
I can post some pic next week.

Cheers Luca

Thanks Luca, :)
I think I will go with Italieri. Do you know if there is a brass set?

Hello Fella's.

Alistair (AMC), the photo is from Ground Power #95 page 145. I cropped it pretty heavily, but it was a poor quality image before then anyhow. GP give no credit from where they obtained it from. I'm sorry, I have no idea where the shot was taken or what unit its from.

Willy.

I'd say it's a 30cwt (1.5 ton) CMP truck but the manufacturer is hard to tell from the rear as the giveaway features (radiator grille and diff shape) are not visible.

The only CMP truck kits around are the Italeri (ex-Airfix/Max/Peerless) 15cwt which has a No 13 cab (not the type on this example) and the Tamiya FGT, which has a No 12 cab which is the roofed version of what is probably the No. 11 cab on the truck in the photo. However, the Tamiya front end is a bit misshapen and misscaled due to motorisation compromises.

Nobody makes a 30cwt GS body so you'd need to scratchbuild that and you'd need to source some wheels of the right size too - the Tamiya LRDG truck might be suitable for those. Mind you, I don't know if anyoine makes a 1/35 Bf109 either....

Thanks. I will still check out the Italeiri or go with the Tamiya LRDG truck as this is what I was originally going to use if I could not get one of these. BF 109 will be a Hasegawa 1/32 scale.
