And the last one I started over the holiday.

Somewhere between kicking my sister's ass
at monopoly and eating a helluva lot of food
I managed to clean up most of the parts to this
one and get the assembly started.

Since the engine dorrs can be opened I plan to try my
hand a scratch building an engine/compartment.

This is a pretty big deal for me because I've never tried
anything that ambitious so if the final model has the doors closed,
you know why :(

This kit is beautiful too. Before I get much further along I have
some reading to do and knowing little at the moment about the 251C
I can't comment on accuracy, but it looks damn good. Molding is
super crisp and this time Dragon has even supplied vision blocks
for the visors in case you want them open. The interior comes
with a fair amount of goods but I can see piling a lot more in there.

Cheers,
Donovan

OK, so here is the 251C engine and compartment.

Most of this is taken from pics of the engine, but there
is also some creative "gizmology" going on as well.

After dry fitting the top I thought it pointless to build the
fan housing and radiator, or anything off the front of the
engine for that matter, you just can't see it.

There are 3 bracing rods I have to add but I'm not ready yet.
The rest I figure to be complete.

So here is the 251C with the interior about done
and the engine bay and scratched engine also about
complete.

Still gotta paint the benches and seats
add stowage, MP40s, that sort of thing.

I've not be able to find a definative source on seat color yet, anyone know if the benches and padding for the front seats was a black material????

I thought the benches were wood, but it was pointed out to me this is not correct. So now I'm at a loss, the only example I have is a restored vehicle in Osprey's Modeling the 251. It does show black.

Donovan

Marco,

Glad you like it. I'll keep posting. Working on some stowage right now before I close up the top.

Christopher

Superb detailing on such a small model!! No way I could accomplish something like that. :(

Christopher,
looks good with that engine build. That DML really seems to be kicking ass. But seriously, what am I to do with old Hasegawas? :(
I have Extratech engine set so I have to decide which version to use it...someday...somehow... hopefully :D

I have a couple Hase kits myself. Never been opened...

As for ExtraTech engine, those are very nice, but too expensive for me.

I'm sure you will find a use, perhaps it can fit Dragon kit as well, or maybe make a burned out vehicle???

Cheers,
Christopher

Hi,
actually I try to make a backup copy of it with silicone. So I could build more than one with engine :D
Hasegawa's are not that bad but as DML is really kicking butt with these new models even in 1/72 scale, all other models will be very much outclassed.
