You start with the Sidecar body. The floor board was kinda goofy looking so I thought I change it to wood planks that looked more like wood planks.

WOO...how big it is ;)
Do you plan any figures to sitting on it?
What kind of primer you are using for?
It is Big...I don't even know if figures that size are available...I would like to. The Primer is Floquil Oxide Red...almost universal primer.
I need photos of the inside of this vehicle (sidecar)...Does anyone have one??
TIA

Looks really cool so far David! One of Mirage's 1/9 scale figures would look really cool with this! Check out: http://www.mirage-hobby.com.pl/index.php?t...=mirage_figurki (http://www.mirage-hobby.com.pl/index.php?tab=mod&page=mirage_figurki)

Well, this looks good so far ;) I'm sure you'll be able to present us with a nice result in the end.
as for the fins-couldn't you have used a piece of sand paper folder onto itself to sand between the fins. BTW looked through some of my refs but nothing on the side car. You could asways make a cover for the opening...
Finally found a pic of this model sidecar and lo and behold it was almost empty. Smooth sides and nothing but a foot heater on the wooden floorboards. The footheater is included in the model.

I build airplanes as a rule. Which is why I seem to be roundly ignored here, except you Jamie. LOL.
Anyway a quick primer on using Alclad should you have the notion.
Spray an appropriate undercoat of black.(in the above pictures I used both semi and gloss black MM enamel paint and allowed to dry overnight) Highest shine is Alclad II Chrome over Gloss Black enamel paint used in a specific manner, the black that is, if you wish more info on creating mirror metal I will go through the whole procedure. Everything else ie. combos of gloss, semi gloss, flat with a variety of Alclad shades can give extremely convincing metallic colors. Below are the shots of mist coat,1st coat,2nd coat which are essential for a good finish.

Here is the differential and PTO (power take off) for the bike. And a shot of how the motor and diffy fit the frame with one of the tins in place (thats fenders to you laymen...LOL). Im beginning to feel like Mikey Teutal of Orange County Chopper fame.

Hi-
I look at this site quite a bit. Nice to see some large scale models. I have built the same kit, and it is a lot of work cleaining up seams and interpreting the instructions.
here is my version- about halfway down the page.

Keep up the good work!

That enginne cowling looks like something from Alien. Looking good Gnat.
I have the Dragon 1/9th scale Zundap, Kettenkrad and this BMW. They all came with wonderfully sculpted figs- THis one is not quite down... maybe feel inspired to tweak it to completion someday... :(

Looks really cool! That is some beautiful work on the engine. Makes me want to do one of these bikes. ;)
Thank yall for the comments. The painting fun is about to begin as the frame has to be painted prior to putting in some of the parts..like the engine. And the large scale does make this fun.

Tonight I have made some more subassemblies. This all has to be done prior to final assembly because you can't paint a motorcycle like any other vehicle..unless of course the engine is painted as well (never seen that). So here is a pic of them with primer on them

After a fit of modeling I have moved from primed parts to a completed frame with all the base coating and paint bleaching done. A lot of construction has been finished.
The kit comes with the winter version which has all the heating elemnts that run off the exhaust as this will be the desert version the holes for that stuff will have to be closed. for some reason i overlooked the ones on the frame

I haven't decided what to do with the headlamp. if I leave it uncovered( blackout shield is provided) I will be forced to make an interior so I am figiting about it

Been working on the exhausts want them used but not rusted out
