Looks good Tuna - did it work to jump start you? My last two builds were smaller scale - I liked the 1/48, the 1/72 was OK but a real strain on the ole eyes!

Hi,
I hope scale jumping has been a good motivator :) I built this model OOTB few years back. What bothers me with this one, is commander's copula which has way too big periscope holes.
Please, get motivated and finish this one.

Hope this might help for the cupola/turret, to make a proper D it needs a little work:

Christopher,
nice Kursk cat there :) Did you make cupola totally from scratch. It is really an improvement!

Niko,
Didn't mean to hijack this thread, but yeah the cupola is scratched from three pieces and turned on a lathe. The reason for this was multiples were being made. The vision slits were then burned carefullt with a cut X-acto blade.
I have to say, I did not make it, it is beyond my skill level and I don't know how to use a lathe. A good friend of mine made this cupola for me while he was making one for himself. If I were to have tried it I might have tried different size rod/tube, but the lathe did produce a wonderful result.
Cheers,
Christopher

Yeah, sorry Tuna for intruding your blog :o I'll stop after this.
Christopher,
lathe with skilled person can result fine items, just like those cupolas. You don't happen to have extra lying around? ;)

Niko, we talked about making an extra and casting it, but alas my buddy did not do this and he only made one for himself and one for me. Although he *is* getting ready to make some other stuff, perhaps I could talk him into making another now that he has the process down.
Cheers,
Christopher
