View Full Version : Panzer III J
Hi everyone,
Here is my finished Panzer III J from Dragon. I'm gonna use it in a Dio, so I put it aside for the Paintjob. Honestly I'm still a bit afraid of Painting it. The last time I painted a Kit was in 1976, in those days there was only Humbrol paint and no Airbrushes.
I used a Eduard PE set along with a Jordio Barrel, and evens spent two Schatton MG34 on it:

Here is one of the Schatton MG34's, and they are really worth the money :) :

The commander's cupola:

The details of the Eduard PE Set is quite good:

Although I think the inside of the Hatches is not as good as it could be:

Ambjoern,
Nice looking work, welcome back to the hobby.
Those mg's are really nice. Edwards pe is ok, but Aber is better, if you can get your hands on what you want. I'm impressed, you opened up the commanders cupola armoured periscope covers. DML's cupola is pretty useless, but you made it look pretty decent.
Larry
Thanks for the greetings Larry, and yes that cupola was worthless. I could not find a resin replacement in my hobby store, so I decided to change it myself. The result is at least decent.
One thing which is still missing is the towing cable holders and the towing cable on the rear deck. After a long wait I received the towing cables and resin eyes from Karaya yesterday :) :

Will post the result soon here...

Hi Ambjoern,
Very nice work so far. I can't wait for the finished tank. I do have a question: Where did you get the Schatton MG 34's. Do they have website? They really look excellent.

Hi Manuel,
It is hard to find words to describe the schatton MG34 barrels. I love them :) , and believe me I am not the Marketing Manager of Schatton ;)
The barrel comes in two parts!:

This is how it looks after I have put it together:

The details are outstanding with drilled holes in the barrel and everything:

Schatton is a small company in germany and it has a website but it is on german.

You can order via e-mail. The MG34 (#3519) set consists of six pieces which will build three MG34 barrels. The set costs EUR 5.10 which is around US$ 6.00. If you look at the pricelist you will see a lot of other barrels as well. And I can also recommend the German Flak Barrels 20mm and 37mm. There is no other product on the market that match these.

any online hobby stores sell these?
