Aaaah, a man after my own heart. Makes me feel warm all over :) I see you have as bad a habit as me....you know it's bad when you start buying books in a language you can't really read. These are a few of my German language books.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y274/Andrewausfa/DSCF0029_2.jpg

L-R: Der Kampf Um Ostpruessen which is about (oddly enough) the battles in East Prussia; Der Grosse Kessel by Willi Mues an awesome piece of literature about the Ruhr pocket - lots of armour photos too; just sitting on the edge of that is Der Einsatz Flughafen Eudenbach which is a history of a temporary airfield but also has a lot of stuff about 9 and 11 Panzer Division as well as Pz.Brg 106 FHH set in the region around Remagen Bridge in 1945; Letzte Divisionen 1945 by Klaus Voss and Paul Kehlenbeck is a back-to-back style of book about the last two raised divisions - Panzerdivision Clausewitz and ID Schill. Lots of good stuff about IR on Panthers etc.

Underneath that is Johann Denneckes Tarnanstriche Der Deutschen Heeres 1914 bis heute (Camouflage of the German army 1914 to date). Should have been a more widely read book. Next to that is Endkampf zwischen Mosel und Inn which is pretty much the bible for the US push out of Lorraine via Metz and down through Bavaria to Munich and Nuremburg.

Above that is Kochs Geschichte (History) Der Deutschen Flakartillerie. Stuck on top of Mosel und Inn is Haupts Das Ende Im Westen 1945. Above that, again by Werner Haupt, is Kurland 1944/45.

Finally Befehl Der Gewissens (lit. Instructions of Conscience) is a rarely seen book about the battles around Charkow 1943. This one was published by Munin Verlag in 1976. It's usefulness is because it includes the kriegstagebuch (daily war diary) of AOK8 during the battles. This is added to with photos and additional commentary. Underneath that is Vorwärts Voran! Voran! This is a photo book of the W-SS panzer units, similiar to Wenn alle Brüder schweigen (which I see James has) but with more commentary.

Point here is (if you're into the subject matter of course), while these books might be a bit esoteric and hard to get, most of them are unique resources. All of them really deserve picking up by JJF or someone, translating into English and being made available to a wider audience.

I have some French language books as well......A

It's harder as you get older isn't it?!!

Not sure about Canada (other than French) but in the UK we're just not exposed to German/French/Italian language on TV whereas in every European country I've been to they get the same BBC we do here in English or subtitled British programmes on regular TV.

I was 'talking' to a German friend last night and from his writing you can't tell he's not naturally English speaking. And here I am struggling to string a couple of sentences together. It's SO annoying!!

Most of the books in the photo are either buys from German booksellers or German eBay.

Berliner Zinnfiguren - http://www.zinnfigur.com/All/E_Home_Set.asp

Scheuer & Strüver aka Moduni in Hamburg - http://www.moduni.de/

Good eBay seller - http://stores.ebay.de/Militarbuch-und-Gesc...genameZL2QQtZkm (http://stores.ebay.de/Militarbuch-und-Geschichtsbuchshop_W0QQsspagenameZL2QQtZkm)

Hi Guys,

Last time I counted, I had over 2000 entries in my library...that was close to ten years ago (before I got married). They are in twelve floor to ceiling bookcases. Most are in the library (room) and two 'floor to ceiling' bookcases are in the garage (workshop).

This is why I offer references to several model companies in the hopes that they release accurate kits. Before you ask, over two thirds are aviation related. ;) I also counted magazines and photoalbums as entries.

Ok so you do have
Panzer Tracts No.5-1
Panzerkampfwagen "Panther" Ausfuehrung D

Then let's talk about Dragon's Panther D Kursk kit.

I asked about this kit over at ML and was told
that some changes would need to be made.

Here is the one of my old posts.
http://www.network54.com/Forum/47207/thread/1081455767/

A quick run down...
1. Change the location of the communications port .
2. Re-positioned the cupola.
3. Remove rain guards.
4. Use MiG Productions asymmetrical vent cover set.
That was to build Panther 521.

So what about a mid production D?
Got some drawings you can post?
What changes would need to be made if any?
What does your book have to say about
a mid production Panther D?

Thanks for any help!
:)

I'm just trying to figure out what you can

Just for future ref for those who want to
build an early D here is the early D
